The final Shared Island Youth Exchange took place as part of the Irish Youth Circus Gathering hosted by Cloughjordan Circus Club this November. After last year’s dynamic Create-A-Show-In-A-Weekend gathering, this year’s programme made a return to its workshop-based format focusing on skill sharing and collaboration, while still brimming with fun, laughter, and unforgettable performances.
This exchange brought together young circus enthusiasts and facilitators from across the island, including groups from Circusful Belfast, In Your Space Circus Derry, Circus Factory Cork and of course Cloughjordan Circus Club.
The programme offered a rich variety of workshops, led by experienced facilitators as well as peer to peer learning opportunities. Participants had the chance to try their hands (and feet!) at a wide range of disciplines, including: Juggling, Unicycle, Acro, Clowning, Performance & Stagecraft … and much more!
One of the highlights of the weekend was welcoming the brilliant Joe Dieffenbacher. Joe not only performed his acclaimed show Bloons, but also led workshops that inspired participants to dig deeper into character and physical comedy.
