Throughout their Circus Explored Outreach project, In Your Space Circus is running over 25 circus taster workshops which engage young people under the age of 18, living in various areas throughout the North West (mainly the Derry City and Strabane District Council area, both urban and rural, Rathlin Island and Donegal).
Their primary focus is on rural groups, as they hope these taster workshops will act as a jumping-off point for ongoing engagement via a larger rural arts engagement programme later this year. They are also keen to engage with Donegal-based groups, which will have a legacy of building new cross-border partnerships as part of the Shared Island Initiative.
These workshops took place in schools, community settings, and at the Féile Festival. Their aim is to provide opportunities for young people who have never taken part in related activities before to explore circus with the hope of inciting ambition, confidence, and inspiration for further exploration and development.
